When to visit?
Spring (April-June): best season after reopening.
Summer (July-August): busiest. Online booking essential. Cave’s cool temperature appreciated during heatwaves.
Off-season (September-October): our favourite. Few people, intimate sound and light show, autumn colors visible from viewpoint. For an off-season group weekend, the perfect tour — when Mas Saint Antoine offers the most availability for property privatisation.
Winter: Cave closed November 2 to March 31.
What to avoid?
- Not booking in high season: slots fill up quickly in July-August.
- Coming in shorts: ~14°C in the cave. Sweater or fleece essential.
- Skipping the viewpoint: don’t miss Cathedral Rock panorama.
- Bringing a stroller: stairs and narrow passages.
- Confusing the 3 caves: Madeleine (intimate sound/light) ≠ Saint-Marcel (gours cascade unique in Europe) ≠ Aven d’Orgnac (vertiginous + prehistory).
