🏡 About the property
-
Mas Saint Antoine is located at 873 route de Saint-Remèze, 07700 Bourg-Saint-Andéol, on the hills above the village, in southern Ardèche. We are just 15 minutes from the Gorges de l'Ardèche and the famous Pont d'Arc, on the border between Ardèche and Provençal Drôme.
GPS coordinates: 44.39768, 4.61471
-
We are located in southern Ardèche, in the south of the département (07), at the crossroads of three iconic regions:
- Southern Ardèche and its famous Gorges
- Provençal Drôme (Grignan, Suze-la-Rousse, 20-30 min away)
- Northern Gard (Aiguèze, Pont du Gard, 25 min to 1 hour away)
This unique location allows our guests to explore three different regions during a single stay.
-
Mas Saint Antoine offers the best of both worlds: we are perched on the hills above Bourg-Saint-Andéol, surrounded by nature, more than 1 km from the nearest home. You enjoy absolute peace and quiet, with no direct neighbours.
At the same time, the centre of Bourg-Saint-Andéol with all its shops is less than a 10-minute drive away: bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, and a lively market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.
-
Mas Saint Antoine extends over 2 hectares (about 5 acres) in the heart of the Laoul woods, the largest communal forest in Ardèche. The grounds are planted with truffle oaks and olive trees that provide soothing shade in the summer.
-
Our panoramic terraces offer an exceptional view of:
- Mont Ventoux (the "Giant of Provence")
- Provençal Drôme and its hilltop villages
- The slopes of the Côtes du Rhône and their vineyards
It is one of the most beautiful views in the region, especially spectacular at sunrise and sunset.
-
Mas Saint Antoine is an absolute haven of peace. We are more than 1 km from any other home, with no busy road nearby. You will only hear the song of the cicadas in summer, the occasional breath of the Mistral wind, and the silence of the garrigue scrubland.
This is one of the main reasons our guests choose us: to rediscover the true peace and quiet of the Ardèche countryside.
-
Mas Saint Antoine is run by Bernard and Hélène, who welcome you personally. Bernard is a professional host who makes sure your stay runs smoothly from arrival to departure.
-
We mainly speak French. We also welcome guests in English (conversational level), which is enough for check-in, local recommendations, and emergencies.
-
Yes, you are surrounded by wild Ardèche nature. Depending on the season and with a little patience, you may spot:

- Birds of prey: short-toed eagles, buzzards, falcons
- A wide variety of birds in the garrigue
- Cicadas in summer (concert guaranteed!)
- Occasionally foxes crossing at dusk

The pool at Mas Saint Antoine is a saltwater pool (Racer electrolysis system). Salt treatment is much gentler on skin, eyes and hair than traditional chlorine — particularly appreciated by families with young children and guests with sensitive skin.

🌡️ Weather and seasons
-
Every season has its charm at Mas Saint Antoine:
Spring (April-June): our top recommendation for families and couples. Ideal temperatures (18-25 °C), nature in bloom, fragrant garrigue, no crowds. The Gorges are stunning.
Summer (July-August): the season for swimming and water activities. Hot temperatures (28-38 °C), but thanks to its elevation, the property often enjoys a light breeze. The pool is in full swing. This is high season for groups, Saturday to Saturday.
Shoulder season (September-October): the ideal season for groups taking over the whole property (weekends, corporate retreats). Golden light, grape harvest, few crowds, attractive rates.
Winter (November-March): for retreats, corporate seminars and quiet getaways. Mild climate (daytime temperatures rarely drop below 5 °C), ideal for combining with the Christmas markets of Provençal Drôme.
-
In July and August, average temperatures are:
- 15-20 °C at night
- 28-35 °C during the day at peak times
- Occasional peaks at 38-40 °C during heatwaves
Thanks to its elevation, the property enjoys a thermal breeze that cools things down naturally in the evening. All accommodations are air-conditioned, and the saltwater pool is a real pleasure during the day.
-
September and October offer a very pleasant climate in southern Ardèche:
- September: 14-26 °C, pool water still warm enough, summery feel
- October: 9-20 °C, perfect for hiking, beautiful light over the Gorges
It is one of the best periods to visit the region.
-
Because the property sits at altitude and away from wet zones, mosquitoes are less common here than on the plains or near rivers. A few tiger mosquitoes may appear in July-August but this is rare — we recommend bringing mosquito repellent, especially for evening drinks on the terrace.
-
The cicadas sing from mid-June to late August, with a peak in July. It is the iconic sound of an Ardèche summer, and many of our guests find it one of the highlights of their stay.
-
The Mistral, the strong north-northwest wind typical of the Rhône valley, blows occasionally over the property, particularly in spring and autumn. It cools the air in summer and clears the clouds — which is why southern Ardèche enjoys such exceptional light. On Mistral days, Mont Ventoux stands out with incredible clarity from our terraces.
