What is Mad Maze?

Mad Maze is a multi-generational leisure park in Larnas, southern Ardèche, covering over 12,000 m² of preserved forest. Built with an eco-responsible approach — no deforestation, marked paths to protect tree roots, zero plastic, rainwater harvesting for toilets, local and organic food — it welcomes families, groups of friends, works committees and school trips for a day of adventure and discovery.

The giant maze: the main attraction

This is the heart of the park: a two-storey wooden maze, 2,000 m², unique in Europe. You start from the central tower and the goal is to reach the 4 towers at each corner of the maze, navigating slides, footbridges and staircases through the wooden labyrinth.

Three difficulty levels

• Easy level: for first-timers and young children, around 30 minutes
• Intermediate: for families and occasional players
• Expert: for challenge-seekers, up to 1h30

Each visitor receives a puzzle booklet to complete throughout the course — an intellectual dimension that sets Mad Maze apart. And the maze changes layout every year, so returning visitors always find something new.

30 artworks and optical illusions

Throughout the maze and park, around thirty original artworks on the theme of optical illusions — paintings, graffiti, sculptures, resin — transform Mad Maze into an open-air museum. Trompe-l’œil that surprise all ages.

Escape Game (extra charge)

Since 2025, a professionally designed escape game is available: 8 clues to solve across the park and the maze, taking around 2 hours. Price: €35 for a group of up to 6 people — excellent value for a high-quality forest escape game experience.

Always check madmaze-experience.com before visiting. The park is accessible to mobility-impaired visitors for the entrance, but most attractions are not fully adapted for PRM.

Getting to Mad Maze from Mas Saint Antoine

Mad Maze is at 2850 route de Saint-Remèze, 07220 Larnas. From Mas Saint Antoine in Bourg-Saint-Andéol, allow around 20 minutes by car. The park is also 25 minutes from the A7 Montélimar-Sud and Bollène motorway exits, and 25 minutes from Vallon-Pont-d’Arc. The car park is in the open air under the olive trees — a thoughtful detail that keeps cars shaded while you’re inside.

Food and picnic

On-site food service offers savoury and sweet options made from fresh, local and organic ingredients — including the famous home-made double-cooked chips that appear in almost every visitor review. A picnic area is available for those who bring their own lunch.

When to visit Mad Maze?

July-August: open daily, perfect for families on holiday

From 4 July to 30 August, Mad Maze is open 7 days a week. The maze is shaded by the oak forest — naturally cool even in the Ardèche summer. A perfect morning activity before returning to the pool at the Mas.

Autumn (September-October): calm and beautiful light

September and October weekends offer a quieter experience with no summer crowds. The forest begins to turn golden, and the maze feels more intimate. For groups staying at the Mas in the off-season, Mad Maze makes an excellent half-day activity in a seminar or weekend programme.

Is Mad Maze suitable for groups and company outings?
